Danby Beacon has been a watch point for at least 400 years. It's history dates back to the 1600s when it would be occupied by a soldier and his wife on the lookout for an invading French fleet of ships. It was used during the second world war as a one of the first radar stations and was a vital part of the first enemy plane to be shot down over Britain since the first war.
Since it's got such good views from being super high up, it is always at least a little bit windy. Rob's grandad used to bring him up here to fly kites and have a picnic when he was little because it is almost always at least windy enough to fly a little kite! We somehow managed to pick a day that wasn't blowing an absolute gale to catch up with Alice and Matthew and grab some amazing portraits of the two of them.
Alice and Matthew were due to get married this year, like so many people were. But unlike most people, their wedding is going to be at Durham Cathedral! We're all disappointed that it couldn't happen this year but it does mean we got to do this little catch up shoot and we can honestly say they have been the highlight of this year for us.
While it's not ideal and we would much rather be shooting weddings, being able to get out and about and do shoots with all of our beautiful couples and share an hour of two with them has been fantastic for all of us.
A huge thanks to Alice and Matthew for trekking out to the middle of nowhere, on the very top of the North York Moors to come meet up with us and jump in front of our cameras. We really can't wait to see you guys again!
